Note from the artist:
I am a Southern mixed media artist with a knack for whimsy and fun! My paintings are designed as an escape from the ordinary, the chance to live playfully through imagery. A deep-seated passion for interiors, floral design and Louisiana cuisine play a huge role in the development of my pieces, leading each piece to act as a “Southern party on a wall.”
I have always been drawn to mixed media because of the spontaneity of switching from one medium to the next. This mode of expression allows me to incorporate antique signs, letters, and sheet music into my pieces, artifacts that played a role in someone’s history, for however brief a time. Whether it be the page of a hymnal held on a hot Sunday morning, or a quote torn from a book, these elements add a layer of life and history to my artwork.
I’ve spent my life living throughout the South (from Louisiana, to Alabama, to Mississippi) and have been influenced by the unique energy and essence of each place. I have grown up surrounded by the vivid, lush Southern landscape and am drawn to nature and architecture for inspiration. The imagery I use in my artwork is very personal to me. Whether it be sleepy oak trees, musical instruments, french chairs of my childhood home or flowers that remind me of my mom, these images tell the story of my southern background.
